The Haven
The brief for Shore House was to create a comfortable and sustainable costal home and involved the extensive refurbishment of an existing 1930’s one and a half storey cottage in the Bosham Village Conservation area and Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Architectural design interventions included the new brick bay windows, which give cadence to the harbour facing elevation and beautiful views of the everchanging weather and tide.
In the landscaped garden, individual but linked garden buildings on the site of the old garage and shed provide a gym and study opening to a pool. The palette for the new and old buildings are linked by the chalk washed Scottish larch cladding which is used in different profiles to accentuate the separate forms. Natural wood fibre external insulation a sedum roof, solar panels and an air source heat pump contribute to the energy efficiency and biodiversity of the project which has been shortlisted for the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards.
